Damn Tag ...

Thu Feb 26, 2009, 4:18 AM
Rules: Once you’ve been tagged, you are supposed to write a note with 16 random things, facts, habits or goals about you. At the end, choose some people to be tagged. If I tagged you, it’s because I want to know more about you (Translation: Don't post the obvious stuff everybody who likes you already knows.

1) When I was younger I used to have a somewhat facination with old electronics and used to be an avid watcher of things like the Brave Little Toaster. I owned a number of vintage cleaners and other strange things that unfortunately got given away when we moved house Dx Out of that phase now ;3 Gimme anything with a Tracker Action and im happy ^.^

2) I was the youngest person in the north east of england to be involved in gardening shows and to actually own his own allotment. I was in a number of shows with my Veg at times,I was 11. I remember many a day trodding back from the Allotments covered from head to toe in an inch thick of mud Dx

3) The first musical instrument I took any form of lessons in was the Ukelele. When Im cleaning windows ? :B

4) I often play squash and tennis in my free time away from the organ bench.

5) My first organ was aquired at the age of 7. It was a Hohner symphony D88 and it sucked Dx I think only every other note worked :B

6) Since being a young kid I have had an irrational hatred for spiders and anything like them due to finding three nestled beneath my pillow at age 8

7) At the age of 12 I rigged up what was left of my old motor scooter to form ... A DIABOLICAL WEAPON OF EVIL DX ... Basically two metalic rods connected to the rather large batteries that I just left laying about in the shed. A few days later I heard a loud string of cursing coming from the Garden shed. My dad had touched the two wires together XD

8) One day when I was 13 I cycled to durham 6 times in a row ... Just for the sake of it.

9) I have never broken a bone in my body ... Ever ... *Looks around him* I can see this happening ... Dx

10) My first job playing for a service was at the age of 11 and this was the Durham spiritualist church that a freind was a member of. This was also the first organ that introduced me to the sound of the theatre organ through it being a wurlitzer 905. It was also the first organ that I ended up killing ... I still dont know what happened but I flicked the General cancel switch and the whole thing went off and wouldn't come back on.

11) I once played a trick on one of the local organists by rigging up some false combinations as he used to have the habbit of scrawling all over my stuff the order that he would use them. So I went and ... Improved them ;3

12) I walked into the organ loft at Ushaw Moor Catholic church when I turned 16 on my usual practice night to find the whole choir and vicar up there with balloons and cake =3

13) I'm also a keen Carilloner at Newcastle civic center. We have a two octave John Taylor intrument built in 1968.

14) I have only ever been through one house move with my dad in the 16 years I have been on this earth. But I have moved an amazing 8 times with mum in the past four years or so.

15) When I was about 8 I had a strange obsession with disco lighting and so and so. I would stick a lable on the door saying "The Disco" And set my Casio Keyboard away playing god knows what and try to invite people to dance X3 THIS has to be the one that takes the cake :B

16) And for where I want to go in life ... I wish to go on to become a Teacher at a secondary school level. I want to go on to read history at Uni in the next few years and its not that far away :3

I tag anyone that feels that they want to do this ^^

Have you ever heard of Camerin Carpenter? He is a vertuoso organist and I DA keeps screwing up the url when I try to post it. Just go to You Tube and search "Camerin Carpenter". Then click on his video entitled "Revolutionsetüde, op.10". This guy's pedalpoint is amazing!

Interesting. What about his playing do you not like? Don't get me wrong - I am not disagreeing with your reply, I am just curious. This is my first time seeing him and I am blown away by his pedalpoint. I couldn't do it that's for sure. :D

It's not really uniform enough for me .. When it's classical organ I normally prefer things like Bach and Buxtehude, Gringy and Marchland. But Cameron is an amazing player ! Just not to my tastes thats all ^^
